TTC is launching an initiative to welcome our existing and new ridership. We are currently seeking to hire a team of Students to join the TTC and our Janitorial staff as a summer initiative to enhance the cleanliness and appearance of our subway stations.
TTC is looking for individuals who are hands-on, self-motivated, a team player and dedicated to community service. We are committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment for our employees and passengers – this role is essential in ensuring we achieve these goals. The duties of this position include cleaning and maintaining the physical structure of various subway stations.
We are hiring immediately into temporary employment that will run thru the summer until September 2022. The TTC operates 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Therefore, students must be flexible and willing to work shift work. This application is specifically for the night shift (10:30pm – 7:00am) including weekends and/or holidays.
HOURLY WAGE RATE: $17.29 ($0.75 shift premium to a maximum of $30.00 max/weekly)
To be considered for this opportunity, you must:
Be eligible to work in Canada
Be 18 years of age or older
Comply with the TTC Mandatory Vaccination Policy
Follow verbal and written instructions
Perform all duties with minimal supervision
Work in dusty and dirty environment
Duties & Responsibilities
Performing routine janitorial duties including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing and polishing various surfaces.
Assist in maintaining an adequate supply of station materials by informing office staff of shortages.
Completing routine forms, records, etc. pertaining to occurrences. Including: acts of vandalism, damage to TTC property, etc.
Responding to instructions for assistance by Transit Control.
Performing all duties as identified in the posted schedules.
Performing in a manner as to safeguard TTC property, customer safety and personal security.
Completion of the TTC Training Requirements as follows:
Subway/SRT Rule Book instruction
WHMIS training
Two-day departmental procedure training course
