The mission statement of the Integrated Gang Prevention Task Force is to reduce gang membership and violence through a multi-sectoral approach focused on education, prevention, intervention, and suppression initiatives in partnership with impacted stakeholders. I would like to take this opportunity to briefly introduce you to the Toronto Police Service Public Safety Data Portal.
The Public Safety Data Portal is intended to improve the understanding of policing, improve transparency and enhance confidence through the creation and use of open data for public safety in Toronto.
The website has many facets to facilitate information sharing with community members, including the following:
- A new interactive application that allows users to find their Neighbourhood Community Officer (NCO)
- A new page with answers to commonly asked questions
- Open Datasets – Major Crime Indicators, Neighbourhood Crime rates, Bicycle thefts, Violent crimes
- Community Asset Portal (CAP) Resources
The website reflects the innovation, accountability, and collaborative information sharing that is integral to our community relations.
